Parliamentary Resolution on a Defence and Security Policy
Translated version of the Parliamentary Resolution on a Defence and Security Policy approved by the Althing on 3 February 2026.
The objective of the policy is to safeguard the independence, sovereignty, democratic governance, territorial integrity of Iceland, the security of its citizens, and the protection of its system of governance and critical national infrastructure against military threats. Its implementation shall be based on threat assessments and developments in the security environment at any given time.
