Statement by Iceland (no 41 of 78)
Mr. President,
Iceland welcomes the delegation of Mongolia and its national report.
In the spirit of constructive engagement, Iceland recommends the following:
- Strengthen enforcement of the Law on Combating Domestic Violence, including through training, to effectively prevent and respond to sexual and gender-based violence.
- Provide comprehensive access to quality sexual and reproductive health services across the country.
- Strengthen comprehensive sexual education in and out of school settings.
- Develop, enact, and enforce comprehensive legislation that criminalizes all forms of discrimination against persons of diverse SOGIESC.
- Ensure thorough investigations of incidents of hate-motivated violence against persons of diverse SOGIESC, including through systematic data-collection.
- Ensure legal recognition of same-sex couples.
- Ban conversion therapy.
